Why Louis?
The Louis Collection was inspired by Louis Sullivan, father of Chicagoan architecture. Louis Sullivan believed in the marriage between beauty and practicality and it is with that principle that our Louis collection is crafted with beautiful yet durable birch wood.
The construction is created to assure a modern kitchen performance.
Wood Characteristics: Canadian Birch
Birch wood is fine-grained and pale in color, with an attractive
satin-like
sheen. Ripple figuring may occur, increasing the value
of the timber
furniture-making.
Many of the First Nations of North
America praised the
birch tree for its bark.
Due to its light weight, flexibility, and the ease with which the
bark could
be stripped from fallen trees, birch was often used
for the construction
of strong, waterproof yet lightweight
canoes, bowls, and wigwams. Birch trees also have spiritual
importance in several religions, both
modern and historical.
